The freedom writers

Response: this movie showed me what it’s like in the streets of America were people have to fight just to survive and where gangs, violence and crime is nothing but a war where everyone has to fight and will keep fighting until one gang is totally destroyed. I learned that it doesn’t matter what other people think about you and that if people feel good about themselves then what others think. I really believe that most people should change their perspective on how they view other people around them. I liked the movie

Freedom writers
I couldn’t help but to feel sorry for these kid’s in this movie. All of them were going through a rough time, and to be honest I don’t blame them for being negative towards themselves and to the teacher.
No wonder why they were so caught up about respecting people and what not.
Those kids are so grateful that a lovely lady came into their lives and helped them through what they were going through. At the start of the movie by the way they acted, I thought they were pigs. The teacher didn’t just walk out on them like everyone else. She took the time to get to know them even though it was ruining her own marriage. She cared a lot.
This movie has proven to me that you really can’t judge a book by its cover.
These kids were lost, heartbroken, going through pain each and every day. This teacher stopped all that pain and heartache.
She reached her goal, and so did these kids.
They learnt not only about one another, but themselves too.
She was making them do well in school, getting their grade high and all as well as getting the time to get to know each and every one of them.
She sacrificed her marriage, the man she loved for these kids. She took up 2 jobs as well as being a teacher to get the money for these kids. She stayed back at school planning different activities for them, and even stayed back looking after students.
What the teacher did for them is just all so much. The words “thank you” just wouldn’t be enough to express. Those kids would be so grateful.
They can actually be something in life and not just an adult with problems living out on the street.
They were completely different kids at the end of the movie.
After saying that they could never do anything, to saying that they can do it and they can be the person they want to be.
This was a really great movie. Very inspirational (:

Freedom writers-Reflection

The movie Freedom writers is a movie based on a true story that happened in the fall of 1994. It’s about a class that is located in room 203 and a teacher coming in and changing the kid’s lives inside and outside the classroom. After watching the movie I was inspired by what Hilary Swank who in the movie played Mrs. Erin Gruwell (teacher) had done to change the life of the teens she had in her class. She had brought together different cultures that didn’t like each other when she first started teaching. She teachers the students about holocaust which is about the millions of Jews that were murdered by the German. After teaching them about the holocaust era she gradually begins to earn their trust. After that she started asking them questions about their lives if they have been shot and all of them raise their hands and show the scars to her of where they had been shot. She confronts other colleagues about the students and saying how they deserve to have a good education and should have books supplied to them from the library and the lady says no. so Mrs. Gruwell goes and takes it into her own hands and goes to buy them books to use and read. I thought the job that Mrs. Gruwell did was really inspirational, because she made the kids become like a family. She even had kids from the smarter class wanting to transfer to her class which really showed how much of a good teacher she was in bringing other cultures together. I liked this movie because it was a movie that showed how other cultures that didn’t like each other come together.

This movie is about a true story on the civil rights racism caused by the blacks and whites in California. So the story was in a High school where gang wars on racism were common and then new teacher named Erin Gruwell gets first time a teacher job at this school. She struggles few days teaching her class and she find ways to know about each student and she also convinces her students how they can improve their lives.
I have noticed how the gangs on racism are described as the color of your skin and what race you are, Whites, Blacks, Asians, Latinos, Cambodians etc. I’ve learnt that it is a serious matter I mean we do have it here in Australia buy nowhere near what it’s like I’m America.
I’ve learnt that how the young fall into gangs, drugs and racism. I’ve also seen how families get separated apart when ordinary people fall into gangs.

I think this film "Freedom Writers" was an inspiring film to all the teenagers around my age that is 12 - 18.
Because it show us how life can be in America in the 20th century, when there were heaps of gangs and violence, in families and on the streets.

It has shown me that not everyone is useless, even no matter whatever color or what your race is. It tells me that if we work together we can make it through life and make things better for us all to live in. xD

This movie is about the racism, gang violence and trying to give hope to those who have their own problems. Freedom writers is a touching film mostly because it was a true story and if that actually happened somewhere in America and if something like that happened in America that you don’t know what else could happen in the world, you don’t know what people feel in the world, you don’t even know what they’re problems even are... they could be in the middle of a brake down or their problems are just miner and they can still live their lives. Like the girl Eva. She could’ve lied and set her brother free but no she didn’t and she did the right thing because of her teacher. Mrs. Gruwell is A teacher of Wilson High School but she isn’t an ordinary “I’ll just teach these kids so I can get my pay” nah she isn’t one of them teachers. See Mrs. Gruwell really cares of her students she actually wants to help them, wants to go the extra mile for them because they have suffered losing friends, family and other loved ones thanks to gang violence and to other individuals becoming so obsessed with something that they think matters more to their family and become corrupted and eventually their anger and hatred take over forcing them to give up the thing they wanted the most.
