Coach Carter…based on a true story, is ‘the inspirational account of controversial basketball coach Ken Carter, who received both high praise and strong criticism when he made national news for a gymanasium “lockout” of his undefeated team for poor academic performance…he overcame the obstacles of his environment and showed his team a future that stretches beyond gangs, drugs,prison and basketball’. In the film he asks Cruz ‘What’s your deepest fear?’ What is your deepest fear? Reflect on the film.

Freedom Writers…’their story…their words…their future’. An inspirational and powerful film showing how teens ‘discovered the power of tolerance, relaimed their shattered lives and changed their world’. The teacher in the film, Ms Gruwell fought for the rights and lives of these kids. She asked her students to go home, look in the mirror and ask themselves ‘Do I want better?’ Do you want better? Reflect on this film.

By now you all would have experienced varying emotions and feelings through researching, listening and reflecting on various songs of your choice. Music and song lyrics are an excellent avenue of expressing yourself and emotions and feelings felt at a particular time of your life. You all are individuals and have varying tastes in music and song lyrics. Be proud of yourself for having the courage to stand before your classmates and present your thoughts and feelings through your chosen song. It’s time now to reflect on this experience.
